Porcelain manufacturing an old craft
Today the porcelain manufacturing industry is no longer dominated by manual work, but by industrial manufacturing processes in international porcelain factories. However, there are some porcelain making companies, such as the Meissen factory, which even today rely very much on the traditional manufacturing processes.
Porcelain manufacturers have always not only been supplied kitchen and tableware, but also decorative items such as porcelain dolls, figurines or porcelain lamps. A porcelain manufacture company is also likely, for example in certain parts of Italy , to be a porcelain tile manufacturer. Even art objects are made by certain craftsmen or artists of ceramic porcelain.
Porcelain and ceramics are both known for their high resistance to electricity which makes the material a very good insulator. Its durability and robustness is also used for dentistry products to form teeth, caps and crowns.
The common raw material for porcelain is clay. However, the ingredients for porcelain industries and suppliers might vary. Materials, which are mixed with the raw material, are glass, bone ash, steatite, quartz, or alabaster.
Porcelain products are formed in certain shapes. Firing and heating of the raw products make shapes permanently. Glazing is added on the porcelain’s surface and makes it impermeable to liquids. Glazing also facilitates the decoration of porcelain ware with colours.
